Poetry as Protest, Poetry as Prayer: A Writing & Healing Workshop for Black
A healing writing workshop for Black women exploring poetry as protest, prayer, liberation, and collective affirmation.
This 60‑minute workshop invites Black women into a sacred space where poetry becomes both protest and prayer — a place to name loss, honour rage, and write toward healing and liberation.
We begin with grounding breathwork and two poems: one that speaks to protest and ancestral grief, and another that calls in hope, connection, and spiritual grounding. Through guided writing prompts, you’ll explore your emotional truth without censorship, moving from what hurts to what heals.
The session closes with a collective spoken blessing — a chorus of single lines from each participant’s “prayer” poem, rising together in unity and strength.
You’ll experience:
A safe, affirming space to express grief, anger, hope, and joy
Writing prompts that honour both personal and ancestral stories
Poetry as a tool for spiritual activism and emotional release
Optional sharing and a powerful closing ritual
A collective moment of Black women’s voices rising together
This workshop is for Black women seeking a space to write, release, and reconnect with themselves and each other.

Through grounding breathwork, a reflective passage on loss, and guided writing prompts, you’ll be supported in writing a letter to your loss: speaking the words you’ve held, honouring what once was, and gently exploring what release might look like.
The session closes with a short blessing or closing line to your loss, followed by a collective breath to honour what has been expressed.
You’ll experience:
A compassionate, judgment‑free space to explore grief
Writing prompts that help access emotions often left unspoken
Permission to hold complexity — anger, longing, guilt, gratitude
A ritual of release, remembrance, and emotional grounding

Black women nutrition and the impact of physical health on mental wellbeing
Join us for a thought-provoking online session during Black History Month as we delve into the vital intersection of nutrition, physical health, and mental well-being, with a special focus on celebrating Black women's resilience and strength. This year's Black History Month theme, "Celebrating Our Sisters," inspires us to spotlight the experiences and achievements of Black women who have contributed immensely to our communities and society at large.
The connection between physical and mental health is clear and overall health and wellbeing is dependent on both. How we eat and what we consume can affect not only our physical being but also our mental health. Food and nutrition can often be culturally dictated and are an important factor for any ethnic group. Black women often take a central role in this in their households and their communities. This session will focus on how good nutrition can be achieved as well as how to allow for better physical health in an ever-demanding society.
#EmbracingOurSisters
Who Should Attend:
